SHAPES

Shape of tip and head of hashi is your choice for custom made hashi. Just like a pair of sneakers for jogging, once you try some of the high quality hashi, you will get to understand your ideal shapes. Below are some of the options we selected. We can carve in other shapes. Please contact us if you are interested in other available shapes. For Craft Master Selection series, our craft master selected octagon as he believes it is the best shape for most users.

Tip of hashi in 3 shapes.

A) Hakkaku (Octagon)

Recommended for new users of our hashi. It stands in middle of Shikaku and Sharp tips described below. It will be good for picking up small/thin food, such as rice grains, and also good for not-so-small food & noodles. Easier to engage the tips.

B) Sharp

Ideal for picking up small and thin food such as a rice grain, a small pea or a skinny fish bone. Requires higher skill to engage the two tips together.

C) Shikaku (Square)

Ideal for noodles and not-so-small food. Easier to engage the tips.

Head of hashi in 3 shapes.

A) Hakkaku (Octagon)

Recommended for new users of our hashi. It is very close to a round shape, yet, it will not roll around and fall off your table. This near round shape will have a gentle feel to your hand when held.

B) Shikaku (Square)

It can have a fitted feel to your hand. The edges may start to hurt your hand when held for a while. (This is our impression. The head shape is a personal preference.)

C) Noto no Aranami (Wavey)

Special artistic wave curved design. Noto no Aranami means a high ocean wave of Noto. This carving holds the chopstick from rolling and also provides gentle feel.  Since this is a special hand carving, it will add highly skilled effort and extra cost.
